Hi All,

I think something's missing from my cylinder!! Please see pic.

I don't appear to have a thermostat, like I've seen in other pics on this forum.
Also, I only have one cable running to the Megaflo. Others I've seen on here have two.

Can anyone tell me what I'm missing please?

TIA

It looks like the thermostat that controls the 2 port valve (and boiler) is wired up but the immersion heater is not.

I'm missing the immersion heater?
I assumed the tank would have come with one fitted inside?

So I need a heater, a thermostat and presumably a suitably sized power supply to it?

What are the copper rods that are inserted into the holes?

No. You don't need anything and nothing is missing.

The immersion heater and the thermostat for it are not connected. Probably because 99% of people never use it.

If you really want it to be wired in, then spend the £100s to have a supply wired from the consumer unit, a suitable switch installed and a cable from that to the immersion and thermostat.
Then if your gas boiler breaks, and you can't be bothered to get it repaired, you could use the immersion to slowly provide hot water at 4x the cost of gas while the rest of your house is freezing.

I meant the cable to power it. If these answers have confused you, call a professional.

I'm not confused (except the part where you said my immersion heater in missing.)

And I can't imagine any professional being happy about coming round to say, "you don't need to do anything unless you really want your immersion heater available as a back up."
Much better to ask simple questions like this on a forum, I think.

Yea fair enough.
I may get a supply put in for it in the future whilst I'm doing other work.
Thanks for the help.

I was referring to your subsequent question the answer of which should have been obvious.

Remember we are on a DIY forum so the assumption has to be that some DIY is intended.

Or just wire up a plug on some heat resistant immersion cable and plug in when needed. Dropping input voltage from 240 to 230 has bought immersions in at 2.73kw
