Is this just the battery in my car remote needing changing?

Hi I know similar has been asked before but what I'm experiencing is a bit diff to what others have mentioned. Just wondering if the only thing wrong with my remote will be battery, and if so how do I change it, where do I get one from etc?

And if it sounds like something else is wrong then what? Thanks.

My ford fiesta 06 remote central locking is acting oddly. It used to just take one click to unlock but now I have to keep pressing it a lot until it finally works. Also, the back doors lock themselves while I'm driving so I have to unlock again from the outside to get kids out etc. Locking isn't so bad but I do sometimes have to press several times for it to lock properly. Also I've noticed that it locks itself after a short while of me being out of the car, is that normal (someone has told me it has a sensor that once you go a certain distance away from the car with the remote then it'll lock itself)?

Thanks, I just wanted some idea of what the prob is before phoning the garage and possibly having to pay a lot of money to get it looked at.

Does the courtesy light work as it should?

Some cars will re-lock themselves after a minute or so if they don't sense the door opening after they are unlocked. They sense the door(s) opening when the courtesy light switch(es) operate.

If a courtesy light switch jams, the central locking thinks you haven't opened a door, and re-locks itself.
Been there, done that! Kid strapped in back seat, keys left on front seat and the car locks itself

You can get batteries very cheaply on ebay, take yours out and you will find a number on it. May not cure it but its a cheap way of finding out.

Just reading between your lines.....when you press the rubber button on your remote you are actually pressing a tiny micro switch mounted onto a small printed circuit board. Like everything else these don't last for ever, and I've replaced a few switches (courtesy Maplins) and also come across the odd fractured board.
Anyway, reinstate a new battery as quickly as you can, and give it a whirl.
If the remote has a small LED, it should flash every time you press the remote button.

yep as john has said,the pcb does fracture at times,also consider the possibility of a dry solder somewhere?.

I have found with Citroen ones that the components break away from the board one end, if you have good eyesight and a soldering iron with a very thin pointed bit, you can resolder them.
