Hi - would really appreciate your advice. Is the repair to the pipe vent on my roof OK? The roofer said there was a rip in the rubber boot on the ridge side that was letting a small amount of water in. So he used a stretch of lead to form a collar and sealed it in place with silicone sealant, covering the rip. My concern is that the rubber boot will fail on the other side, particularly now it's carrying a lead collar. The scaffolding is costing me a fortune (it's a townhouse) so I don't want to have to do this again. Should I trust the roofer's expertise and relax that all is now well? Or should I ask them to replace the rubber boot entirely? Thanks for your help...

Why not just do it properly and replace the boot?? is there a reason why he didnt do that???

I suspect it's because the main jobs to get done that day were replacing the guttering and dry ridging and dry verging, so didn't leave much time for this. He probably didn't have the replacement parts with him but did have some spare lead.
