I personally think he came out with the “letterbox” scenario to highlight the oppression of certain cultures. He’s just not very articulate.

I would say Boris is very articulate.

I think it rather compares to Ken Livingstones remark about Hitler supporting Zionism - written in a way that could technically be correct but ultimately offensive to the group of people to which it refers.
