Hi All,

I recently swapped over 2no ceiling fittings from roses to a spiral fitting with 6no 12v 10w bulbs in. These have worked fine for about 6months. The other day, one of them went out (all 6bulbs), did not trip fuse,I tried changing each bulb individually and still nothing, so I changed all the bulbs, no luck.
I then stripped it back and checked l wires were in, and they were. I then took it down and put the old rise back up, and works fine.

Could anyone shed any light on what might be wrong with the fitting.

Thanks in advance

Kevin

Your old light (ceiling rose) used 230v lamps

Your spiral light uses 12v lamps

That means that there is a transformer, somewhere - probably part of the fitting. This transformer may be faulty or (more likely) there is a fuse in the fitting that has blown.

Fuses are replaceable. They are there to protect the transformer if/when one of the lamps blows from high current.

Fuses are not warranty items.

There isn't an obvious fuse in that picture, though there may be a tiny, soldered in one that is not intended to be accessed by the user...

As TTC says, in general, a fuse is not a warranty issue but in the case of one that is fitted in such a way that most users could not reasonably be expected to replace or even find it, I would say that's effectively a faulty transformer and return it.
