Hi
Newbie here so hello everyone!
I have what is probably a very simple question. I'm in the process of renovating a house I recently bought, the whole place has been re-wired. I was removing the old mouldy integrated fridge yesterday when I hit a problem with the oven power cable.
The oven is located above the fridge and the cable was wrapped around the back of the fridge. Try as a might I could not free the cable (no way I could get a hand to it or take apart the kitchen unit), and could only move the fridge forward a foot or so.
So in the end I gave up and cut the oven power cable so I could remove the mouldy fridge.
I didn't particularly want to have to buy a new oven as the whole kitchen will be moved to a different part of the house in around 12-18 months, but I do have to live with it (safely) until that point.
So my question is, can I safely join the two ends of cut cable using a joint box of some type (32amp)?. The cable is pretty thick stuff - assume 6mm?
To clarify this is the cable from the oven socket to the oven, NOT the feed to the socket itself (which the electrical install certificate states 32amp).
As I say the kitchen will move eventually so only a temporary measure.
Thanks!
Robin
