Or is the "minimalist" to which you refer their ability to light up a room?

I’ve had downlights in several kitchens in the past. I rather like them. I know you don’t.

Each to his own, I just think it's a pity when people sleepwalk into having them because they've not properly thought through the drawbacks or considered the alternatives. There really are people out there who think that an array of small downlighters is the only lighting which exists if they don't want fluorescent striplights or pendants.
