Hi All,

Never used a router before and I've bought the Katsu one from Amazon. It doesn't come with any useful diagrams showing how to set it up so I thought I'd ask here.

I've bought a rebating bit (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07SJ4YBVL?ref_=ppx_hzod_title_dt_b_fed_asin_title_0_0&th=1) which is 35mm wide. This is about 2mm or 3mm too wide to fit through the bottom of the base plate on the router unless I fit it through the base plate first. All I want to do is create a 1/4" wide by about 12mm deep rebate in a piece of 43mm square pine so I can fit a piece of glass and putty it in. Am I missing something here or is there something I need to learn?

Cheers
Daz

this would fit into the router , through the baseplate - upto a mark , to say how far to safely use the bit

ANY photos - might help
is this a plunge base

Link to the Katsu router

have you watched any videos on router -0 which direction to use the machine in, on the wood - how to safely use the machine - they can be quite lethal, literallyyou

just a random youtube video

Thanks very much for the reply. It's not a plunge base. What I'm getting confused with is I've got this large cutting bit with an attached bearing giving the offset I need for the width of cut but I don't know how I set the depth of cut!
