Key chuck or keyless

Which is better to have, a keyless chuck or a key chuck?

i don't think one can be described as 'better' than the other, but keyless is certainly quicker and less cumbersome.

you could also change bits one handed with a keyless.

i use both, but after time i found that the keyless one can come loose quiet easily, but as noseall says it is quicker, plus now i might have to try the one handed change!!!

The better quality drill chucks [metal not plastic] don't wear easily and remain firm, also the better drills have a self lock mechanism so the chuck can lock very firmly.

I like keyless chucks, but for heavy drilling in metal, you cant beat a proper keyed chuck imo
