Can anyone help me?

I'm trying to uncover that strange quirk of Mother nature that makes it incredibly difficult to get kids out of bed on a school day yet gets them up at 6.30 or earlier at the weekend, despite going to bed later the night before.

Parental Annoyance Methodology.

Don't worry, by the time they reach their teens they won't be able to get out of bed till at least 2.00pm at the weekend and CERTAINLY won't want to be seen with their parents either. :lol:

S'spark, you are sooo right... they know what they're doing i'm sure!
 
it's exactly that..
a child needs less sleep than an adult, but if you let them sleep longer they go into a deeper REM sleep and are harder to rouse.
if they go to bed later they are not as deeply asleep when it starts to get light so they come out of it easier..

I'm the same..
if I sleep for 9 or 10 hours I find it harder to wake up than if i only sleep 6 or 7 hours..
 
How do you sleep for 9 or 10 hours? :shock:

I can't get past 6, maybe 7 if I'm knackered!.
Even been known to work from 08.00am till 08.00 the following morning with occassional 15-20 minute breaks then go home get a shower and just wind down till about mid-day then get about 3 or 4 hours kip before getting up again.

and then you get your revenge by using electric drills etc outside their bedroom door at 9 in the morning! :lol:
 
Just recently I've been in a job where I have regular shifts of 6/7 till 4/5. So every day (5 days) im up at 5 or 6. And on my days off I also wake up naturally at these times too, regardless of when I went to sleep!! The human body is an amazing timekeeper.

The thing is, on my days off, I try to get back to sleep and when I do, I sometimes have really awful dreams, waking up in a sweat and my cheek covered in drool :lol: But the awful dreams are nasty and vivid, I suppose I should just get up at at 5 and have done with it :lol:

Firstly, if I sleep for 9-10 hours Im as fresh as a daisy! I could only sleep that long if Id had 30 pints the day before.
Secondly, young children need MORE sleep than adults.
