Kilrock Inhibitor

I had to chuckle when I saw in Plumbase the other day that their in house low cost inhibitor goes by the trade name of Pro-Fit...which is WRAS approved incidentally, but I've no idea what that entails and how rigorous it is.

I've always used Sentinel, just because i've always been told to by the boss when I had one, so I carry on using it.

Probably the same stuff , city plumbing sell some thing similar , they also sell the iflow brand which is drayton kit but cheaper !

Sentinel & Fernox are in league with alot of manus , they only recommend these brands , load of nonsense if you ask me , way i see it they must have sold squillions of gallons of the stuff ever since I can remember ,i assume some of it ended up in the odd heating system ? seems to me that power flushing is big buissness now , so these products did not do what they said ??? :) :)

I doubt if you tested sentinel against say Cura or protex a cheap brand there would be any difference in performance ??

David, you never replied to my PM !

Sorry, which one?

The one dated 11:42 PM Jul. 22, 2010?

If that is the one I did email you but received no reply, if that is not the PM you are talking about then I'm afraid I have received nothing else.

Yes, but I did not knowingly receive your email. Did it have viagra as the subject?

Can you resend it?

Okay I'll resend it, in that time I got some more information to add.

Viagra? No, of course not

DWTA developed the standard and it is administered by Buildcert so Rustbusters looks good to me.

I have a bottle of Kilrock Inhibitor, is that brand any good? or should I buy sentinel x100 inhibitor?
thanks
Kilrock Protector/Inhibitor is WRAS and Buildcert Approved. In tests it performs better than the major brands. It is based on exactly the same technology as the most expensive alternatives, with a high level of actives and the additional advantage of being Phosphate-free. 500ml treats the same system capacity as 1 litre of Sentinel.
And yes it's cheap...from my economics o-level I remember something called a Giffen good, something that people think is better simply because it's more expensive, I have to congratulate the major brands on achieving that status, great for business, not so good for the punter.

where can I see these tests?
They are independent tests conducted by the raw material supplier to supplement the product approvals. So not open access I'm afraid.
On the other side have you ever seen any proof from the major manufacturers that they are in any way better to justify their premium?
They advertise, have a large support staff and offer different kinds of training therefore have a different cost structure, and need to cover these costs. But the products are no better for the man on the street. They are also totally inter-changable. Just because you've started with one brand doesn't mean you can't follow-up with another.

Kilrock Protector/Inhibitor is WRAS and Buildcert Approved.
It's not listed in the WRAS database! And why would Buildcert be interested in it? Their job is to test and certify water fittings.
It is listed under our formulation partner, or we wouldn't be allowed to put it on the label. Regarding Buildcert chemical inhibitors have to satisfy Part L of the Regulations 2006 (England and Wales), as part of the Drinking Water Treatment Approval Scheme.
Pleasure talking to you, wish you the best of luck, but life's too short for all this!
