Hi everyone,

What do you think of this? Attached is a drawing.

Im still trying to find a use for my wireless receiver. I want to try and use it as a second switch for a bedroom light.

Iv taken a look at the wiring at the light but I'm not sure how I would connect the receiver and still maintain use of the normal switch. Iv had a fiddle around and just end up tripping the circuit.

Cheers!

Hi EFL,

I can't see if you wrote anything on the thread.

Cheers

One query I have is why my switch neutral wire goes into L on the light fitting.

I guess the switch needs power which its getting by spuring off from the feed and the neutral and there is no other options to use the neutral as a switch wire? Am I in the right ball park?
Yes, It is not a neutral, it is just a blue wire.

Hi EFL,

Thanks for the advice.

Successful installation!

Question.

I have found that the receiver only operates when the main switch is on and main switch only operates when the main switch is off.

So I guess the main switch needs to remain permanently live?

I was under the impression that they would be able to work interchangeably.

Any thoughts?

Thanks again!

Good, I think.

Question.

I have found that the receiver only operates when the main switch is on and main switch only operates when the main switch is off.
Would you like to rewrite that?

So I guess the main switch needs to remain permanently live?
Well, one terminal will be. Like all switches.

Have you perhaps got L IN and L OUT the wrong way round?

It's a strange one, wiring looks good...maybe it's just the kind of receiver I bought...?

Main switch off = receiver works
Receiver in off position = main switch works

But cannot have main switch on and then turn off with reciever.

Tbh I don't actually need that function for my purposes but just curious, again, maybe it is the receiver type. The solution is great because the main light switch is behind the door (oversight when we were getting the rewire done!)

Can't thank you enough for your assistance! Learnt alot so far.

That's clearer.

No, of course not. It is not designed for that.
You just wanted the receiver to work with what you have.
Temporarily disconnect the main switch if you want to.
