The only reason I live is for a smoochy, sloppy wet one with a couple of nose rubs from my grandkids. My son & both of his sisters understand & actively carry on the tradition. The mouth fart on the tummy I feel is strictly for the parent / child . . . although my lad, at 28, is starting to feel he is a little too old.

Good God! Whatever happened to the famed British stiff upper lip? Last thing I would have wanted when younger was a parent slobbering all over me; especially in public.

Thankfully my mother was sparing with such things - but on the occasion, it was a quick, genuine sign of maternal affection - always in private. Not a big show. All that was required from pater was the occasional manly handshake.

Keep all this exaggerated kissing stuff where it belongs: on the continent!
