Final inspection by B Control and the inspector told us that we have to have a mechanical extractor in addition to the downward sucking recirculating AEG Hob extractor.

All wiring done and signed off by our builders regular Spark.

I can take power supply for one off the lighting circuit and vent outside thro loft as it’s a chalet bungalow.

As a competent person am I allowed to do that as it’s a kitchen and wiring there?

Secondly do I really have to get the electrics checked again? And thence another cert issued …..

Thanks in advance
Del Boy

Part F and Part P are separate requirements, but as it’s not a new circuit you can argue it’s not notifiable.

I think that Wales kept the original Part P requirements but in England then Kitchen is not notifiable , so if not a new circuit then not notifiable 9some clever cloggs can argue a fuse (say 3A fused isolator makes it a circuit under BS7671 circuit definition but I`d wager that under Part P that would not even be considered.

I agree with EFLI,
Please note that it is by no means unknown for BCOs etc employed by Local Authorities to assume authority that they simply do not posses
Please note that when BCOs etc employed by Local Authorities assume authority that they simply do not posses is irrelevant as you still need their signature, just look at the earth bonding fiasco in the 70's

I think you should use "knowledge" instead of "authority".

I appreciate the difficulty but deplore the practice - of giving in to the ignorant simply because they are in charge.

Don't get any choice though, in the case of the bonding of the 70's you would not get a new connexion unless you bonded the wingow hinges, now you don't get building sign off if you don't install the fan that's not technically required.

What a sad state of affairs.

It does explain why the country is in such a mess.

"in the case of the bonding of the 70's you would not get a new connexion unless you bonded the wingow hinges, "

My understanding was that it was myth, very often shared and believed by very many that it became as if was almost "the truth" and did much damage and I know of one rather largish firm near me that went bust over it.
It was, in essence, a very real problem until the proper application was realised, yes it was very near universally believed.

Certainly not a myth, as I mentioned before I'd wire a newbuild, the SEEBoard person would attend to make the final connexion and go round with a log wire checking anything metal, such as kitchen cupboard door handle & finges, door & window furniture, coat hooks on a wooden backplate etc.
Any omissions he'd walk away with the fuse.

It got to the stage we spoke about 3rd fix, to add the coathooks, kitchen dors & drawers etc after power was on.
