OMG one of each, there were at least a dozen in that office.Perhaps they have some common sense in your area. Although in fairness to them they did used cover for each other if one was off sick or on holiday and you had an urgent need. We only used to have one of each

In our LABC they were both officially different departments but were physically dealt with by the same people in the same office, probably more finiancially and practically prudent way of getting best results they ewere also strongly linked to and "borrowed" and consulted each other in the grants department too , again making the whole thing more streamlined and cost effective for all concerned.
That makes more sense.
Yes but whether central or local it is sometimes difficult to imagine gov depts showing sense (or a modicom of it at least) anyway they do still have plenty of ill-thought ideas sometimes just to balance back to "normal" so do not lose heart, they are still capable of immense daftness just to give some reassurance! LOL
