I'm planning on installing a peninsular kitchen worktop (standard laminate 38mm thick and 800x1800mm). The plan is to have it attached to a wall at one end (probably a 50x50mm batten) and just have two metal legs at the other end. Only the short (800mm) end will be against a wall.

I'm not planning to have any units under it and am worried that it will bow (or even snap) under load. It's just to be used as a breakfast bar area. Should I use more supporting legs or is there another way of doing this without extra legs? (to keep a cleaner look to it)

You dance on your breakfast bar?

It could well sag in time anyway, so it does no harm to brace......how about one length either side with the peg legs fixed to them?
John :)

I'll try a couple of 4x2's set in a bit from the edge (so you can't see them).
