Lampshade Help

Anybody got any idea how to get this lampshade off? As you might notice, it's in need of a thorough clean!

The metal cap on top turns but doesn't unscrew... nothing else really moves at all!

You are missing the important picture of the ceiling rose / cable exit / chain support bit at the top!

Likely have a similar hook for the support chain up there. They unscrew to allow access to terminals under the silver (chrome?) dome... which slips off the thread. May need two people (one to support the luminaire while the other unscrews / disconnects (mains isolated, L & N, first!!).

Otherwise clean it in situ - baby wet wipes will cut through that grease quite well.

My ceiling rose simply slides off, as said you have missed the important bit.

Ah, right, gotcha.... so no way to remove just the shade, need to take the whole thing off from the ceiling rose?

I think plan B of cleaning it in situ sounds like the way forwards then!
