Laying Floor tile in Kitchen / Diner

Cheers for that jefoss.

And I'd also like to thank everyone who replied to my request for help and info, I really appreciate your kind help.

Much appreciated

I don't know if it goes against site protocol, or even if anyone will be interested, but I will try and post some pics, when I've completed the work.

I am going to be tiling this week, and I forgot to ask a few things;

The floor tiles are 440mm - so what size spacers should I use ?

I also have to tile round the kitchen, above the worktop, like a splashback I suppose, using 100mm tiles, should I use the same flexible adhesive and grout as I am using for the floor tiles ? I guess the spacers would be different, but which size do I use for the smaller tiles ?

Again chaps, your advice is greatly appreciated.

cheers

for the floor i would use 4 or 5mm spacers but its down to personal preference.

2mm for the walls, and you will need to go buy some different adhesive for the there, you won need flexi, just get the ready mixed, bal or weber doa good wall adhesive for a decent price, go for the named brands, anything else is just peeing in the wind.

guys

I am just ordering the adhesive, grout and tools now.

I have borrowed a prof wet tile cutter.
What other tools do I need to complete the job ?

AND How can I work out how many bags of grout to buy ?
I have about 24 sq metres to tile.

The grout details are below:

BAL Superflex Wide Joint Grout

Colour : White/Grey/Sandstone/
Limestone/Ivory/Charcoal
Powder/ Water Ratio : 5 : 1
Joint Width : 3-20mm
Specific Gravity : 1.69 g/cm3
Coverage : 300 x 300 x 9mm, 4mm joint = 0.46kg/m2
Pot Life : @ 20°C 60 minutes
Cure : @ 20°C 24 hours
Packaging : 10kg & 3.5kg bags.

Shelf Life : 12 months when stored in normal, dry conditions. Protect from damp.
Temperature Resistance : -30°C to 100°C

many thanks

try to buy 1kg for 1 square meter, so you will need approx 24kg grout, i dont personally use bal, but if im wrong it wont take long for someone to correct, i use weber and the flexi wide joint works that way, im sure it wouldnt be too much difference to be honest fella.

as far as tools are concerned: a dry cutter, a notched trowell, mixer for the adhesive/grout, grout float, spirit level, usual other bits, pencil, knife etc and patience.
