I'm after a bit of advice from the experts. I'm putting new copper 22mm pipes in the upstairs floor for the ch flow and return then branching off to each rad in 15mm. What it the best way to lay the pipes over the joists in their notches? I'm really keen to make them as quiet as possible so they don't make noise against the timber when expanding and contracting.

I'm thinking that it's best to put hair felt between joists and pipe - but what about clipping? No clips - or should I use clips? If yes - what sort? Obviously I don't want clips to be too bulky to keep the notch size to a minimum.

What would the pros do? Thanks for any advice.

Sometimes use nail clips if the floors out - to stop bouncing.

Edit: and sometimes use thin screws to hold the nail clips down :)
