Leanto timber choice?

Hi all!

If I build a lean-to out of construction dry graded softwood (spruce) and treat it with cuprinol, is it going to last or will I be replacing bits and/or having to treat it again every year?

It will last if kept dry

It wont last if get fungal attack or eaten by insects

Cheers. Yeah after a bit more research I'm thinking I need to atleast use redwood if not something better like western red cedar or a hardwood.
