please can anyone help? whilst the parents are away i had a party....a full bottle of strong spirits was broken on the parquet. I soaked up as much as possible but now (the day after) several sheets are beginning to lift. I presume this is because the alcohol has dissolved the glue in places. I don't want to take up the affected sheets if i can avoid it as i will create more mess, but can anyone suggest a remedy eg syringing adhesive (which adhesive) under the partially lifting areas? I need to do this before the parents return.

Many thanks

I'm afraid you will have to: if the liquid is dissolving the adhesive then there will be more underneath the tiles then you can see. So you can syringe adhesive now and find more loose tiles tomorrow. Plus the liquid will cause the wood to expand.
Lifting the tiles will also show you if bitumen was used (black adhesive) or another type of adhesive.

Lift the tiles, let the underfloor dry-out, remove all residue adhesive (from floor and tiles) and stuck the tiles down again with parquet adhesive. After re-installing the tiles you could put some weight on it.

Hope it can all be sorted before your parents are due back (tomorrow ;-)) ?)
