LIGHT SWITCH QUERY

Hello all,
Just wondering if I have need an earth on my light switch....
The outer case of the (dimmer) switch is plastic. The two screws are metal but actually screw into wood and not a metal plate casing, there was no earth wire connected - do I need to connect one?
I've been told no but I wanted to double check.

In this instance you do not connect an earth wire, but there should be one there in case you change the switch to a metal one
