I am hoping someone can help.

Just changing a light fitting and the old connector blocks fell apart before seeing what they were connected to.

Can anyone tell me what wires go where :oops:

From the ceiling there are

2 red wires, 1 black wire, 1 blue wire, 1 yellow and 2 earths.

Two x 2inch lengths of white wire fell with the connecters.
There are obviously a blue and a brown as well.

Photo of whats up there is below.

Thanks in advance

are there any other lights on the same switch?

can you get access from above and see where the wires head?

can you take a look at the wiring at the switch?

Sorry forgot to mention those bits :oops:

No access to wires above the ceiling (well not and leave the ceiling in tacked!)

There is another light in the same room (kitchen) but they work on different switches, but from the same circuit.

The light has at least 1 possibly 2 switches that control it. 1 switch set into tiling and the other in another room behind a large cabinet.

This is not looking good I guess?

its not looking normal, which means we can't give you a straight answer on how it should be wired without more information on where the wiring goes.

Is either of the switches two gang? If so, can you see how it is wired?
It is a possibility the 2c+e is a supply cable and the 3c+e is the swich wire inc a neutral for another light.

One of the switches is a 3 switch unit.

1 to a light that has never been used (only this switch works the light).
1 to this kitchen light (other switch that works this is a 2 switch unit).
1 to other kitchen light (same other twin switch as problemlfitting)

Below is a photo of this switch, quite fuzzy as the camera cant focus anymore as it getting dark.

The switch for the light that we have a problem with has;
Yellow with red sheeth marker at the top
Yellow & a blue with red sheeth marker at the bottom

and the 3rd terminal?

Sorry for teh daft question but what is the third terminal. The switch only has a top and bottom with wires comming out of them. I know there will be other wires someplace, but not on teh controling switch (cetner of the 3).

Also if it helps the other light fitting in the kitchen controled via the same switch untis (but diffrent switches) is wired as follows;

O - Blue (to lamp)
O - Black X2
O - Empty

In the pic there appears to be a black and blue wire not connected into the switch. Are these connected together?
Do the red & yellow wires from the same cable as this blue wire connect to the switch for the kitchen light? If so, is one of these wires looped to another switch?

each switch has 3 terminals. its a 3g 2w switch - each switch will have a com, l1 and l2.
