lighting problem

hello i need some help please. i am replacing a light fitting in my bathroom, and the wiring consists of 2x black and 2x red wire. however every time i connect it up my fuse blows. i have had the light on but when i flick the switch it doesn't turn off :( :confused:

sorry i didn't mention that my new light fitting has only 2 connection points a live and neutral sorry i was vague
 
See the right-hand part of the first picture and the right-hand part of the second picture in the "For reference" post.

They both show the same thing, just using a slightly different drawing style. In your case your bathroom light is wired the same way as the kitchen light in the second picture.

Electrical work is a specialist skill and you may not have the skills needed to do the job. If you find the diagrams hard to understand, this is a good indication that you might not have the appropriate skills and might need an electrician.
