I have got a 2 way consumer board in my shed 1 breaker is power the other is for my lights,(1 flory 1 garden spot) both need to opperate from there own switch, where do i start???

Buy some books on electrical wiring. See "For reference" section for details.

do i take a feed to the light switch then up to the light or is it better the other way???

It's better the other way. To buy some books and learn up a bit first.

pass all my exams but have not done lighting for years normally do commercial stuff trunking, tray, ladder rack so i am a bit rusty and need a mind jog.................

As SS has said, rather than anyone have to re-iterate what is already in the reference sections, have a look in those first. If you still don't understand then by all means ask away.

buy a 2-gang switch and run the main light feed into it. gather all the neutrals into a terminal block. put the lives in their obvious places in the switch. You will need a short piece of connecting wire to link the 2 permenant lives (COM) on the switches.
