Some say the SLR could drop a tank at 800 yards, while the SA80 is built for precision. But let's not forget the perks of modern tech. The SA80- A3 has optics, attachments, and doesn't feel like carrying a small oak tree around. On the other hand, the SLR's iron sights and raw power made you feel like a proper soldier.

Even the SA80 is due to be phased out by 2026 due to aligning with NATO. OMG it is like arguing with someone from WW1 with you.

On a trip down to the Sinai we were given a shooter and had to take 2 hour stints through the night on guard duty. It was an M1, I think it had bullets in it, no bayonet though. They did have big boys rifles back on the Kibbutz but we weren't allowed near them.

Only by sheer luck nobody is dead, would you like to run that risk?
Me?
I'm not sure what you are getting at?

If you mean do I wish there were more light bulb changing, trigger happy wannabe soldiers, capping off, left right and centre - absolutely fudging not no.

That is not how PTSD works, I had a long conversation with an ex services guy at the gym, recovering from PTSD. When it's triggered, his heart races and his body is pumped with adrenaline even a minor argument with his partner can trigger it, he said he has no control. He was doing well with the right support, but I felt really bad for this young lad who'd been so damaged.
Very sad, heroes are injured mentally as well as physically. I only know a couple of ex squaddies, homeless guys who each had a unique story and experience , like all of us.

That's the A1, idiot.
You are the one bringing an SLR into the conversation because you have no idea what the newer weapon is. there have been 3 major changes since then and it is due to be replaced again. you mention the gpmg showing once again you are indeed a moron of the highjest calibre
