Hardly a new invention, but lockshields with built in drain valves are new to me. Looking at the pictures of them, I don't see how they can be used to drain down a system as you end up with copper pipe below the included drain valve. Am I missing something?

Don't bother with them; just another cost cutting solution developed for the new build market.

Most of the rad valves are cheap and nasty..they don't have a seperate gland seal around the spindle so often leak, and the drain-off drains at a slow rate compared with a proper drain-off fitted to the pipework.

They are used for drop fed systems, where the pipework runs down inside partitions or in trunking on the surface, as opposed to popping up underneath the radiator.
