Hi
Looking for a cordless drill that will remove a few tight screws out of some windows boarded up. And may use for other things later on so not look for that much to be honest

Was going to get this Makita from screwfix for 35 quid; but it has no battery or charger
https://www.screwfix.com/p/makita-df333dz-12v-li-ion-cxt-cordless-drill-driver-bare/986hp

So I looked at 2 cheap ones for sale at Argos for 30 quid
https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3980471?clickSR=slp:term:cordless drill:6:36:1
https://www.argos.co.uk/product/4528681?clickSR=slp:term:cordless drill:3:36:1

Any preferance please or better recomendation?

Thanks

"drill driver" means it is not much good as a drill. If you want to make holes in wood, brickwork etc, an 18v Combi drill would suit most DIY. 12v is too low in power.

As you appear to be focussed on low price, an own-brand would do you. look for a 2-year guarantee, as cheap tools are not always very durable.

Two batteries are very useful and will allow you to keep working, but the second one will add to the price. A hard kit-case is very useful.

Wickes own-brand, Titan at Screwfix, or the Aldi and Lidl ranges are good value for cheap tools. They often have price reductions during and just before Bank Holidays when DIYers are busy; and after Christmas when they want to clear the stock left over from present-buying. A hard kit-case is very userful.

Einhell brand is a German company and you can buy spare parts online, which unusual for cheap brands.

I have never heard of those Argos ones.

A quality brand will be better but cost noticeably more.

You only need about half a dozen drill bits, but look for a set that includes screwdriver bits in Aldi or Lidl centre aisles. if you ever want to drill bricks, you will need masonry bits (usually silver coloured) that most sets will include. Don't get a huge set, you will never use most of them.

I would probably go for the £50 Wickes set with two batteries.

£ 30 forget it use a screwdriver as 1.3ah and 5 hours charge means less than basic further hindered by your hands tied behind your back
if you want battery then as suggested lidle and aldi around £50 when available
if you have further plans for other tools then rethink your strategy aiming toward £100-200 and a decent kit

Theirs are made by Einhell.

AVOID the £30 argos drill.

I agree with JohnD recommendation.

This would be my screwfix £50 "combi Drill" recommendation:
https://www.screwfix.com/p/mac-allister-mscd18-li-2-18v-1-5ah-li-ion-cordless-combi-drill/317fx
If you have more budget look at the £120 mark.

BUT as you will be removing screws, make sure you get a good set of drill bits that accurately fit the screws, otherwise you will strip the screwheads.
Suggest this:

or

or at Toolstation that might be in wickes

If you're trying to shift stubborn screws, use a screwdriver bit in a brace to get them started. Then you can use your electric toy to get them fully out.

For stubborn screws I tend to use my impact driver, a little pressure applied by hand, little bursts to start, shouldn’t round screw off.

wont remove stubborn screws
wont drill holes in wood or walls
£20 well wasted but please get it iff you want (y)
Well if you think its not fit for purpose then they sell a very simular Bosch one hear

Do you think that will remove stubbon screws or do you think its the same only will last longer?

If not that then what about there next one up?
