Hi All

We’ve got a two year old LG washing machine. Noticed today that one of the small metal plates sitting on the drum has become dislodged. (Photos) I’ve tried resetting it but no cigar. Also doesn’t help as it’s still attached at the other end.

Is there a quick fix for this issue?

Thanks

Those are replaceable items. They either push in or slide in. Normally made of plastic so have a look at the back as you will probably find the plastic tab has broken. Buy replacements and fit.
Look for part number on them

Thanks. The problem is I can’t seem to manoeuvre it off from the end attached. Tried up and down and left and right to no avail

No experience of these machines but from what I read the paddles are not replaceable individually. You need to replace the drum. A work around seems to be just snap off the existing fixing and remove the paddle which apparently makes little difference. to the operation of the machine Hopefully the fixing will pass through the pump and out the waste or be caught in a filter if it has one. Although on a 2 year old machine I think I would be complaining to supplier and manufacturer. Also use make and model number to see if there has been a recall.

I can’t shift it. Tried pulling back to front of washer, lifting, left to right. I think the only way it will go is if I snap it upwards and backwards from the loose end. Not sure that’s a good idea.

Hi again

Quick update. Have reached out to LG, and they’re going to see if we’re covered by the “extended five year warranty”. Knowing our luck, we won’t be.

All other things being equal, they advised that only a qualified engineer can remove the drum lifter. I’d take that with a pinch of salt, but I’ve also seen stuff on tinternet implying these metal lifters can only be removed with the drum off?

That can’t be right, Shirley?

All the YouTube vids cover the plastic lifters, and they can certainly be removed.

(I still can’t remove it)

Thanks again

If it's like the Hoover/Candy lifters there's a screw holding it. On them you can get to the screw with the machine on its back and the sump hose removed. The heating element is in the way but just about doable through the element. Having said that the screw might not be accessible that close to the front of the drum looking at the picture.Plus it might have a solid base.

Thanks. We always seem to end up with an appliance with a part which is unusual or difficult to access/remove.

The machine is only just over two years old. Why would the same manufacturer design some (vast majority, according to YouTube) with plastic/easy to remove and then these ones requiring such a big production?
