ok, I understand. However, can you provide a layman's explanation of the structure of the flat roof build up?

Exactly the same as a flat roof - deck boards on the joists, except the joists will be on an angle ie rafters.

The edge (verge and eaves) needs detailing as there will be no fascia as in a flat roof, so it needs to appear as a normal pitch roof with a verge, bargeboard or not, and a slim eaves fascia and soffit.

Deck boards, as in decking boards? Felt on top of that? No batten, other than that above the felt to support the tiles?

The boards on a flat roof are the deck. Ply or OSB.

The roof needs to drain, so you need counter battens running up the slope, then your tile battens running across the slope on top of those.

Yep ok, understood. The term 'deck' confused me!

Any felt is better than EPDM for self sealing?
