The thermostatic bath shower mixer tap, has, all of a sudden started delivering only lukewarm water. This morning, and for the six months it's been installed it's been fine. Now though, it'll give you full on cold, but as you turn up the temperature dial, it gets warm then no hotter. All other taps give hot water. Any ideas what the problem is?

Lukewarm bath shower mixer

Well, I took the tap off (it's a bar mixer mounted on deck pillars), to my surprise, the filter is no more! It's rusted away! I thought they'd be stainless steel? Anyway, I removed the mixer cartridge from the tap to check for blockages, but couldn't see any evidence. Upon reassembling it it's still the same.
It's a cheap eBay affair.

Kinda thinking you get what you pay for! I've taken the temperature knob off, removed the black plastic stop and turned it up as hot as it will go, but it is still only lukewarm.
