Magic Bonding!

Found this in a rented property today.

Wiring was your average 30 year old three circuit on a brown wylex setup.

No bonding to the water, and something seemed not quite right. The earth strap couldn't have been any looser if possible.

On closer inspection of the property there was no sign of a 10.0mm² emerging at the mains.







Gave the bond at the gas meter a good tug to see which direction it went off in.....

My guess: When the new meter was installed (in 1996 says the label). The Gas Man said there was no bonding. The owner found that the run from the gas meter to the MET was too difficult so they just put in a bit of 10mm to satisfy the gasman (knowing that they never check for cont.).
Either that or a cowboy spark did that and charged for a full job.

There was a label attaced to the gas meter notifying about the lack of earthing, and it took me the best part of 4 hours to properly bond it back to the MET!
