Always worth having a good look at where your screws are going to occur with tonk strip. You rout your two depth grooves either side of the uprights, then you need to be sure there is still enough meat left to locate the screws and make sure they don't clash with each other. Best of luck.

Or buy a router bit that will cut the two widths in one go

Goes to show there is always something new to learn.Been using those strips for years didn't know you could get a cutter to do both at the same time.

Probably time to put the stanley combination plane to rest them or are you still using those wooden planes
