I am having a real hassle with this boiler. We are doing it for a firm we do quite a lot of work for.

Its the usual thing, penny pinching landlord who had a cheap non mainstream boiler fitted, no MI on site, none on my CD, not known at Parts Centre.

The problem is identifying the PCB. Parts centre dont even list this model and the Baxi parts girl had never heard of it! Baxi help have some info but the fitted PCB would be expected to be a 248075 based on a Performa 24.

Baxi suggest the actual part fitted MIGHT be a 5112657. Their parts girl confirms the price is reasonable but is unable to identify the appearance and have it shown as made by their Italian supplier. That is for a performa 24 HE.

Parts Centre dont even list the 5112657 on their system! Their central number do list it as a special with only one in stock and nearly £200. An online supplier list it at a very reasonable price but with no photo.

The actual PCB is different from the 248075, the 248074 ( and the 5112380 which is a later replacement for the 248074 ).

Its made by Honeywell and is marked ACPES 94v. Its similar to the 248075 but with only one preset pot between the two pots for the front panel controls. In addition it has a two pin socket for the mod coil connection. ( the 248075 uses a gas valve with no mod coil and uses the second preset for the min gas setting )

Can anyone confirm the appearance of the 5112657 ideally by reference to a photo? Or perhaps confirm there is a two pin socket for the mod coil and only one preset pot?

To be honest I have wasted a lot of time on this quest and find it very disappointing that both Potty and Parts Centre are not giving boiler repairers the proper backup which we expect.

Tony

PS Dont just look up the MI for the 24 HE. I have already done that and I think that they have used the wrong drawings for the PCB. In fact when you look at the detail on these Potty MI they have a lot of errors in the detail! The connection diagram seems to have the required connections like the mod coil though. But the drawing of the PCB shows four pots and I suspect its really only got three!

This web site has a lot of pcb photos on you may get lucky http://www.hccfspares.com/Part_Type3.aspx?Manufacture_ID=6&Part_Type=PC.BOARD Also the main instalation instruction are on parts arena http://www.partsarena.com/baxi/

Thats a new site to me with nice clear photos!

Trouble is that like most others it does not even list Main or even the Potty Performa HE.

Nor does it even list the 5112657 part which I think that it is.

This is really frustrating. I cannot find any photo of this part and not even Potty Tech can positively confirm that thats really the part I need. They are not generally stocked anywhere at all.

Woe betide the poor Potty sales staff who will be getting some words from me at Interbuild tomorrow! Is Bill Roe still the Parts Director? Whats his email address?

The main 24 board is the one off the 80eco (248075) with the transformer on it, should be about 100.00.

If its the 24 he then its the board off the performa 24 eco he (5112657). Search on here http://www.europeanspares.com brings one up at 58.50.

No its NOT ! Thats the problem!

One would expect that as it seems to be mainly a rebadged Performa 24. But this particular one seems to use the HE pcb because it has a mod coil on the gas valve.

Must confess I'm a bit lost without a gc number but as above the board I think you need is from the performa 28 he ECO, which is totally different to the performa 28 he

Interesting reaction from people at the show today when I mentioned my problem.

Its quite clear that there are very few people in this industry who really know very much at all. And worst still that few care and they are going to do nothing to solve the problems either.

It was nice to have a long chat with an ex Tech Man from Glow-worm/vaillant who agreed with me that the plate HEs are all the same so the GW is no more likely to block up that any other. He also said that in many cases they would change a plate HE once per boiler under the warranty free of charge. He is now with a new smaller firm with a very cost efficient boiler.

Also nice to see that Sunvic is being grown back up again. Met the whole company really, Chairman, Man Dir, Sales Manager and Tech Manager ! They have some nice products at sensible prices too.

I don't doubt the physical sizes Tony in fact I more suspect the problem lies with the water flow which leaves all the deposits in the hx inlet causing a blockage, but in the same way as highflow 400 blockages tend to show themselves at around the 5 year mark, cxi's do at around 1.

The pcb on my Main Combi 24 HE has just packed in. In my installation and service manual it lists the part No 5112657. However it looks nothing like the sketch shown. I`m going to a local supplier am Thur I`ll let you know how i get on.

Ps The No does not show up on the old pcb.

remmember a couple of years back changing a pcb on a baxi 80 eco. the board was arranged totally different , yet all connections fitted and boiler worked and is working fine.

not got the number to hand, but ring heat spares in st helens, merseyside. the guy knows his parts.
