Hi

I am looking to build a rather large drawer for bathroom storage somewhere in the region of 1.5m x 1.5m. The difference being that the drawer will be standing vertically instead of horizontally. I'm am an extreme novice when it comes to this type of construction. I understand that it is possible to purchase draw kits with the side panels made from extruded plastic. Does anybody know where i could get hold of these plastic extrusions in any size? Or any ideas in order for this drawer idea to work? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

5ftx5ft is not a drawer are you shure of the size!!!!!

what exactly is it for!!

and whats the 3rd measurements!!!

Thanks for the swift reply, and thanks for the welcome

It is not a standard size drawer i am requiring which is why i am looking to make from scratch. I have attached a picture of what i mean. Hopefully clear it up as its hard to explain.

Its needing to be approx 1.5m vertical, about 1m back and the drawer depth to be about 250mm???

It is just to store general bathroom products, towels etc... as my bathroom is pretty small, but has an area that would be ideal for something like this.

But.... I have no idea where to start

may look good but not that easy to make because the whole weight will be at the bottom

if you think of it logicaly you can only get around half the use of the space between the shelves unless your a demon at folding neat and tidy so the linnen stays on the shelf then your little darling come along and pull a towel out the middle and it all falls out

why dont you just have a normal cupboard with a door and shelves with wire baskets you can pull out and load up then put back in!!!!

The proble you will have is with the mechanism that keeps the moving section vertical when the drawer has been pulled out and the front edge is not supported other than by the mechanism.

Is something like the extending side runners of a filing cabinet only much stronger and fitted one at the top and one at the bottom.

Wy not use a pull out larder unit such as this which can go down to 1600mm there are others that will go smaller have a look through the site and also at Isaac Lord and Hafale.
