Massive power outage in Spain and Portugal.

Beano too complex for you

Nah just never fancied it but it would appear you may be an expert on the publication

As for complexity most things appear to
Be to complex for you :giggle: Blimey your not Spanish are you ??

Measure twice cut ounce ;)

Ounce?

They still have a power shortage they have declared a state of emergency

What a caper

I thought the opposite was the case in that traditional big power (coal/nuclear/gas) has very large spinning masses (turbo-alternators) with very large inertia providing stability to the grid. When this is removed/minimized without the inertia the grid suffers oscillations typically in the 0.25-4hZ range that can get out of control causing large voltage fluctuations and power flows, e.g +/-10Kv on a 400Kv circuit and corresponding power fluctuations of 1-200Mw. There are many published papers on this subject and some suggested solutions within the control algorithms of inverters but unfortunately the scale of such devices seems inadequate compared with older electro-mechanical systems.
Yes and no. The inertia that old school turbines create helps smooth the grid, but they can't double or halved the power they are generating in a microsecond. Wind and Solar reduce inertia but Batteries can more than compensate for it, if you have enough.

Another case for cash is king people unable to pay for anything with cards even affected the use of cards in the canaries

I was in a pub few months ago. Till system was on the blink, so cash only. I sat there enjoying my pint while I watched the sheeple troop in and leave empty handed and thirsty cursing their cards and dumb phones.

On a news prog someone has just asserted Spain's increasing reliance on green/renewables doesn't help in these scenarios. Something to do with the way this interfaces with their grid, renewables running on DC, the grid running on AC, causing low inertia conditions.

It would’ve been worse with fossil fuels

Far worse

Blimey Spain spent millions on new trains than found out they were to wide to go through the tunnels :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Only required a a cheap tape measure

Hopeless mob

Couldn’t organise a booze up in a pub

Indeed, some hopeless folk just can't measure...

"Protests in 'ghost town' where £400m ferries don't fit the harbour"

"Those unfamiliar with Scotland's so-called 'ferry fiasco' would barely believe it is a true story.

The new vessels cost quadruple their original price tag, one was delivered seven years late, the other is still being built, and both are too big to fit the main harbour for their daily journeys to and from the Isle of Arran"

One of my mates is in Spain now, he got stuck in a lift for an hour yesterday.
