Hi,

Firstly, don't know what the difference between door linings, frames and casing. /are they just different terms for the same thing?

Have a block partition wall with a door opening. Need to install a door lining, which is the better of the 2 - softwood or mdf?

Will be painting it white along with skirting and architrave and hanging oak doors off them so looking for the stronger of the 2.

Appreciate all thoughts.

Thanks

softwood is a lot stronger,i certainly wouldnt be hanging oak doors off of mdf unless they were bolted to the wall through the mdf, :D

Thanks. How about veneer?

And while we're at it, mdf or soft wood stairs?

Why not an oak staircase or chipboard oak veneered stair case? ;)

Depends on how you feel.
If they are to be used quite heavily then go with the softwood
or bricks.
