Is there an important reason why people disable their messaging facility, do you bombard each other with messages if its turned on.
What if you have something to say to someone that you would rather not post in the open forum.
Would some disputes be better settled privately rather than in the open forum ?

Might it be something to do with the default setting which allows private messages only from those marked as "friends" in the system?

I must confess that I'd never really looked at all the options closely enough before to realize that my profile was so set (until I switched it to "all registered users" about a minute ago).
