My central heating has started banging very loudly. I have narrowed it down to the 'Mid-Position Three Port Valve?'. When I switch the heating on after an hour or so the switch automatically moves to 'H' and then click back very abruptly, making a severe noise in the pipe work. It is and ACL Lifestyle unit.........any ideas please?

Thanks

normally happens when the ball opens to heating and swells and gets stuck, the motor lets the valve return but the ball won't move so the springs are at full stretch so when the ball finally lets go the srings smack it back to hw sending a single bang through your pipework.

Thanks for the response. Is there any way of fixing these?? or how much are they to replace??
