miles to gallon

Immigration is a major cause of congestion on the roads. More cars - but no extra roads. Nothing to do with xenophobia just logic and observation.

The majority of the UK feel the same way that I do. It's you that is in the minority.

my family came to live in this country in the 1950s my dad and his brothers fough in the war for free, they were not caled up and made go, after the war they worked hard to rebuild our citys or as joe would say his citys ,in your hour of need you never ask people to go home and not help, you put a gun in there hand and said kill the hun :) joe you should go to all the places in the world that the uk ask for help and be thankful they came when they did, up until my dads death there was plenty of people like joe STILL telling my dad he was not BRITISH & should go home ,which he did in a box joe ,hang your head in shame fool
you did,nt do it all by yourself you got foreign and commonwealth help as you will see at 11 hour 11 day ,
i come from a big familey and we never got dole we worked started bussiness and prospered did not see you there at 5.30am to help joe. my kids tell me they are british as the dont know the land of there father, you tell me joe, mum english dad immigrant must be a half cast or summit

What's ancient history got to do with it?
The bottom line is that we are a tiny country with a huge population - we don't need any more people. The more people we bring in the more infrastructure we have to build.
Poland needs its own people to build Poland to get it up to speed with the big players in Europe. Same with Romania and Bulgaria. We don't need them here, they are needed in their homeland.

immigrants
We all know where this will end. Joe wants to see a topic locked so he brings up immigrants.

MPG has got nothing to do with immigrants Joe, so go away, and take your xenophobic attitude with you.

Immigrants drive cars which causes congestion. Congestion reduces MPG for road users. Nothing to do with xenophobia - just don't want this crowded island any more crowded. Then again maybe you'd like to coat the country in a new load of tarmac? But you'll have to raise taxes to do it.

Joe, YOU drive a car, which ALSO causes congestion.

This is my final comment here I'm not being drawn in. I advise others to do the same.

I was born here. If I went to Warsaw and caused traffic chaos - I'm sure that Josefski-90 would have something to say about it (and with good reason).

Immigration is a major cause of congestion .

Did you know joe-90 that you can now have a DNA test that will positively identify your place of origin? I dont mean where you were born, but where your family originated from. You could be Chinese, Eastern European,Indian, Arabic, North or South American,Australasian or even Mediterranean. If you took such a test and found that, for example, your family originated in or around Poland, would you go 'home' joe and lessen congestion in this country

Well we all came out of Africa so I guess I'll pack my bags eh? It was about 7 million years ago though. It's TODAY that matters. We are just a tiny little bit of Europe, we don't need any more people.

Though it pains me, I'm with Joe on this. Whilst I agree that this thread is in danger of going off topic, I do think that Joe has a point. At last estimate there could be anything up to 1.5 million immigrants in recent years (don't quote me on figures - I don't watch much news). There's got to be a sizeable chunk of those that have a car - that's gotta make a difference. When a car park is full they put a sign out to say so - we seem to have lost the sign.
Back onto topic, I've said it before and I'll say it again.... scrapping road tax and putting it on fuel is the way to go. http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=321120#321120

although the figures in that thread may seem appealing to the low mileage user.....er thats me BTW.....what about extremely high users such as HGV's that transport all our goods around?

most HGV's fill up at around £1000 a tank these days.....add another 40 odd pence per litre and your goods prices will take a sharp upturn in price.

does anyone know what the current excise duty for an HGV is?

So are you saying that you welcome all the immigrants who've come here in the past but not those coming now or those who come in the future?

We are where we are. I don't care where people are coming from we just don't need any more people. If 200,000 leave - then let 200,000 in using a POINTS BASED SYSTEM. It's open door Britain that I'm complaining about.
