Most green building materials are on a reduced VAT rate or zero in some circumstances. There's laws that we kept under Brexit that blocks us unilaterally removing VAT on products.

Quite right too, those that can afford it should pay.
They should all be zero rated. But we still pay VAT on the labour and "secondary" items needed - like bigger rads to accommodate the heat pump.
Also, dinosaurs as a category includes birds.
If the secret to adapting to global warming is to somehow evolve into a tiny animal whose main purpose is to **** on cars over the next 50 years then I'm going to stick with the prevent option instead.

My point was to demonstrate that, despite your protestations otherwise, it IS significantly cheaper - at least, for now - to "go green".
