I'd say the 'fallout' will be radioactive.

Israel hasn't got the ground forces to successfully invade Iran - plus they'd have to invade Jordan or Syria first, and then invade Iraq, before they even arrived at the Iranian border.

Why would they invade them with ground forces? They will do what they did last time and bomb the facilities that are making the weapons.

As long as they do not possess a large army capable of truly fighting back then America may have to move in troops, have American private companies take over any natural resources, and have pro American leadership voted in.

Other countries invade, America just "liberates" with occupying forces. Mind you that was mostly in the Bush years, you reckon Obama would do this?

"Invade" implies putting troops on the ground. That's the word which was used in the original post.

Israel could never invade Iran, they are - however - quite likely to consider air strikes on Iran's nuclear program. But even that would stretch their capabilities to the absolute limit. Israel hasn't got much in its air force with the range to reach Iran and successfully destroy well defended and hardened targets. So they'd be just as likely to fail and suffer serious losses as to succeed.

There's no way Israel would go nuke unless they were actually attacked first. They held off from nuking Iraq, even when they thought that Sadaam was lobbing chemical weapons at them on his Scuds.

212 nuclear warheads says they have a few to spare. Iran is nothing compared to the military might of Israel (a military outpost of the USA).

When will we get our heads together and build a Doomsday Machine? Just like in Dr Strangelove? One nuclear attack and the whole world goes up, simples!

it will anyway. Iran has a defense treaty with Russia and sends all its oil to China.

Israel doesn't need to invade Iran. They will tell the Yanks to (probably already have). The Yanks are now just picking optimum time so minimum impact on their presidential election. Israel are considering that request.

I think you are right Inky pete,I should have said strike rather than invade listening to democracy now the other night thats what Israelis are saying ,Nick romney on the same report says he's right up for it.will the outcome of the next American election make any difference?

One definite fallout will be the rise of oil prices, probably happening now as the markets react to Israels/Irans sabre rattling

Nick romney on the same report says he's right up for it.will the outcome of the next American election make any difference?

No, nothing to do with who wins the US election, it's to do with whether Iran gets attacked before or after.

Netanyahu requires the US to go in before the election. Obama desparately wants to wait until after as he reckons going in before will stuff up his chances of winning a second presidency.

So Obama begging Netanyahu to wait until after. Netanyahu sees this as an opportunity to obtain more money and arms from the US and are essentially blackmailing Obama right now. Obama basically poodle.

And it is rather annoying that the world powers are prepared to see us all suffer through high oil prices over this. It should really be nothing to do with us but we are being dragged into what should be a local squabble.

The world is in recession due to world oil shortage, and that isn't going to change for the rest of your life - apart from getting worse that is.
