Motability Cars

Arrogance does not mean anger at not getting what you are allowed to have,
Arrogance is: the quality of having an exaggerated sense of one's own importance or abilities.
I come accross disabled people in my work on a daily basis. I find a lot of them very rude and entitled

It was banned about the turn of the century on the grounds of safety.
In strong winds it blew over. Many burst into flames. They could only carry one person. So the disabled always had to travel alone, and no one could drive for them.
They were given free to disabled people, so there was no loss of benefit to accepting one. But there was also no benefit available to adapt a different vehicle.
How many of these did this happen to? I have never seen or heard of one upside down or involved in a fire

So are you suggesting letting someone else get a car on notability then?
A partner, a parent, a carer etc can be the named driver of a car on a motability scheme. But the disabled person's allowance is used.

Sometimes the disabled person is transported in their wheelchair. They cannot leave their wheelchair.
How many vehicles are adapted, or adaptable to transport a disabled person, in their wheelchairs?
And why should a friend, a neighbour, a carer have to buy such a vehicle, complete with those adaptations?
Such adaptations themselves can cost thousands.

We are allowed to hold up any traffic on roads for 15 mins whilst we conduct our work without traffic management. We can also park on paths and access roads for the same period or we wouldn't be able to carry out our works. We get more complaints and confrontation from disabled people than any other person. Very entitlled and special people.

I thought the mobility scheme was to help people with their disabilities when they could not help themselves - if someone has 10 or 20k spare - why don't they buy their own car ?
PIP is not means tested.
If you have been injured, and left disabled, and receive compensation. That compensation does not affect your PIP payments.
It would be sensless to award someone compensation for their injuries and disability for that to affect your PIP alowance.

No but I know one of my sons mates uses the mobility car his mom got for him *not for her for him*

I also used to work with a chap whose wife was disabled and he used the car as a taxi on the weekends (I know you wouldnt think it allowed but it happened)
It' perfectly reasonable that the disabled person does not drive, and another person drives them, and uses the car.
But they can't use the Blue Badge while the disabled person is not using the car

I doubt the insurance would cover that kind of thing. So he wouldn't get a licence for a taxi.

I am sorry to hear you have ill health, I stress my case that I am talking about those that do not have anything wrong with them that I am concerned over, the shirkers and the overweight people that are playing the system.
And in the process sniping at the genuine disabled people, for being disabled.
