How is the space from the service fuse to the meter 150 mm?

Distance between the gas/electrics and it would look neater bracketed to the wall,
Is that what that plate is meant for? It's got holes in the back, as if it were to be used screwed to a wall.

with the anaconda not stretching across the meter.
It isn't now, and nor would it be if the meter were moved slightly to the right.

gasservice is only giving advice , he does not know what going on around the meter with photos you've provided space availability.
Indeed, which is why I asked him what reason(s) there would be for moving it further to the right.

Surely electricians are also taught not to put electrics within 150 mm of a gas part?

True. But I'm willing to bet that the gas pipe and meter in the picture was installed after the fuse

it needs a floor bracket fixed to the floor. your gas pipework wants to be rerouted so it does not cross the electrical stuff.

A floor bracket does not need to be screwed to anything - they can be freestanding.

There should be 150mm clearance between gas pipe and electric meter installation. You could try telling National Grid there meter does not comply. I have no idea whether they would resolve it. A lot do not comply.

Then you get into the "is not our meter contact your energy provider" / "but your numpties fitted it" merry go round.

Well, talking of bets you'd win, mine would be that they would say "We installed it in 1986 and it would have been done properly. Whoever installed the new pipework on your side after then must have moved it."

That is such an old meter, you could ask who ever is responsible for servicing meters that you want it changed for a new as you suspect its accuracy due to its age and they would come and fit a new meter and whilst they are doing that you could ask them to re-fit it properly along the wall, though you may have to then get an RGI to do consumer side pipework, and have it run well away from electrics.

MFL: SW what are you doing in this thread? Everyone is able to challenge there meter reading, but you have to pay a fee, returnable if you are correct. They will not change it cos it is "getting a bit old".

That said. every meter is to be changed for a smart meter. ASt that point, armed with info such as clearances, you could try to insist it was done propery.

mike from london why would you want to change an old meter , have you ever thought why they get changed after 20 years ? its because they start registering in the customers favour .
As for moving meter yep grid will move it away from the elec meter for free done many jobs like that usually on the day its phoned in
