We have just moved into a new house. The gas pipe that feeds the fire is located in front of the chimney breast. We have ordered a new fire and this is due to arrive in 2 weeks when it will be fitted. The problem is, everything is now on hold - we can't put down the flooring or fit the new skirting board until the gas pipe is moved. It is basically a little bit of piping that comes from underneath the floorboard, just sticking out in front of the chimney breast.

Is it possible to move this pipe as a DIY job or is a gas fitter required? If so, how much will it set be back roughly just to get the pipe moved about a foot?

if you are competant you can do it, if you screw it up you are in a world of pain

as for price gawd knows

Moving the pipe yourself would be OK providing you could do it without cutting the pipe or breaking any joints. If you need to get someone in to move it it shouldn't cost a lot, the main problem is getting someone to come & do such a small job.
