moving mains

hello is it odd to request the main electric and consumer unit to be moved? Mine is currently under my stairs and I've been thinking of putting a cloakroom there instead. I am going to upgrade from 60 amp to 100amps anyway. I thought that putting the consumer unit in a cupboard near where it comes into the house would be a better place. Comments please?

It isn't something unusual, what I would say is what benefits will it give you?

If you are simply going to use the space for a cloak room then I personally would leave it where it is, just think how often do you need to access it and is it less tempting to little fingers there than in a 'new' cupboard appearing?

But at the end of the day it is a personal thing.
