Just wondered if anyone can beat this: Currently I work in an environment where there are 100 x 13a outlets on a single 13a plug.

Anyone beat this?

If will help the insurance people sue the properties team and void the insurance when the place burns down.

Does you firm have any knowledge of health and safety ?
 
100 x 13a outlets on a single 13a plug.

What risk is there ? As long as the 13 amp plug has be fitted with a fuse of 13 amps or less and the cable between it and the outlets can carry 13 amps safely there is no more risk than any other use of a 13 amp plug.

So lets say the multi socket extension leads are 4 way.

If the op has 100 'available' sockets and they daisy chain that means 3 sockets as 'available' and one as the daisy chain connect to the next extension lead.

The last lead has 4 sockets to use the rest 3, so that requires 33 leads (32 x 3 + 1 x 4). Each lead is 2m long.

So how would a fire inspector or H&S inspector react to going in to a single room and finding 33 leads connected to 1 x wall socket, and finding 66 m of leads.

I haven't even considered the 100 appliances / devices / wall warts that are load.

I haven't considered the SPF (single point failure)

I haven't considered the possible need for HIE (subject to devices)


It isn't right in a commercial premises or anywhere else to do what's being "boasted" about.

Maximum of about 6 Kwatt ( allowing for the 13 amp fuse carry 26 amps for a short while until it blows

Maybe they are MK double sockets fitted to a 25 foot long wall

It isn't right in a commercial premises or anywhere else to do what's being "boasted" about.

But would a ring final or radials with a lot more heat producing capability would be any better ?
 
Sorry for dragging this one back up! Just checked the replies.

The set up is 5 test benches, each with 10 double sockets - through 1.5mm short runs to 13a plugs into a 5 way trailing socket to the wall mounted 13a twin protected by a 32a MCB & 30mA RCD.

No trip hazards.

All the equipment is low current, but there are are a lot & a power monitor shows pretty low idle draw.
