Mushroom foraging.

This has just reminded me. Our daughter sent me a couple of mushroom growing kits for Father’s Day. I didn't start them off as they needed a certain temperature, darkness and a bit of fresh air. It was too hot at the time and Mrs Mottie wouldn’t let me grow them under the stairs because of the spores. It’s probably getting to be right time now so I’m going to fit some blackouts to the windows in the garage and start them off there.

Can you start a separate thread ? I’m thinking about giving it a go

Not a lot to start, TBH. Just open the box, slash the plastic bag with the stuff in it, spray with water and leave in a darkened space.

Years ago, I bought a mushroom growing kit. It contained some spores and some soil. I followed the instructions to the tee. No mushrooms after about 3 weeks so I chucked it in my compost bin. Two days later I went to put some grass cuttings in there and it was packed with mushrooms!

More growth this morning. I can feel a mushroom breakfast coming on later in the week.

Saw a fair few of these today. May be edible - I’ll have to look them up.

Foraged from my darkened garage this morning. King Oysters. Picked, fried and on my plate within minutes. (y)

Not meaning to sound tight, but that works out £20 a kg.
