Hello!

I wonder if anyone could do me a huge favour and give me some advice
on how to correct this particular problem ... I have searched through DIY
books and am just not sure I'm searching for the right thing ...

Two tiles on my front doorstep have come away as seen:

I have some ordinary Portland cement and some sand.
Is there any reason I can't use this to fix the two tiles back in place?

Also (and this reveals my lack of skill more and more), is there a way of
ensuring the colour match between the existing pointing and what I put
down??

Many thanks for any help anyone can offer!
Danny

there is absolutely no reason why you can't use sand and cement for both bedding and grouting.

mix it 3:1 for bedding and strengthen it to 1:1 for grouting.

coulour match will be in the lap of the gods though yours does look cement rich.

don't lay in the frost and lightly *wet the area first.

*use a paintbrush or similar.

I'm just a DIYer but is the tile on the left loose as well?

I would be tempted to do the whole front row if the ones either side could become loose in the future.

Soak the tiles in a bucket of water before you lay them. Don't worry about the cement grout - it'll be the same colour as the rest before long.
