It was taken over by fruit cakes a long long time ago along with 90% of the education system.

If the NUS took control of student housing they would be one of the most powerful and well funded organisations in the country. Sadly its usually the guy or girl who flunked their finals getting a 3rd or worse who ends up as president giving them another year of partying before applying to MackyDs.

They should ditch the politics and religion and focus on providing services for students.
